How can I ask out a boy without making it sound pushy?
I have a boy in my class with a great sense of humor and a great
personality. How can I ask him out without making it sound obvious
or pushy?
Just ask him. Any boy would be glad to be asked out (as long as you're not extremely ugly, which i'm sure you're not). if you are too nervous about asking him directly, just say something like "i heard there's a great new (wherever you like to hang out) nearby, would you like to check it out?" or "there's a great new film on, do you want to go see it?". There is no reason to be nervous though, because 9 times out of 10 he'll say yes.

The Great Falls in New Jersey - A Natural Attraction with Historical Significance
The Great Falls of the Passaic River, located just 12 miles from New York City in the city of Paterson, New Jersey, is a not only spectacular natural attraction in the nation’s most populous state, it also gained historical significance in the early stages of the American industrial Revolution by supplying water power to the nation’s first manufacturing center.
The falls now 77 feet high, emerged approximately 13,000 years ago the end of the ice age. As the glaciers ice melted, the Passaic River swelled and rerouted it's way around the north end of the Watchung Mountains, carving out the spectacular falls from the basalt base.
Early habitation of the surrounding falls began with the native Lenape Indians, followed by Dutch settlers in the in the 17th century.
The Great Falls and the American Industrial Revolution
The Falls also has a place in history with the American Industrial Revolution as one of the nation’s first manufacturing centers that benefited from the falls water source to generate power to run mills that manufactured locomotives, guns, silk, and aircraft engines.
In 1778, after visiting the Falls Alexander Hamilton, first realized the water power potential for industrial development and when he later became the country's first treasury secretary, he spearheaded the development of the nation's first planned industrial city.
Two manufactures of prominence, The Rogers Locomotive Works and Colt, where the first Colt .45 revolvers were produced, benefited by the water power from the falls.
The Passaic River is prone to flooding from heavy rainfall or snow-melt, and during those periods of flooding, the Falls is at its best as an awesome sight with the tremendous down pouring of water cascading over the falls.
In the second week of April, 2007, 8 inches of rain drenched the area and produced the "Great Flood" that flowed down the Passaic River and over the Falls.
The Great Falls - A National Historic Park
In 2009, President Barack Obama signed the legislation making The Great Falls and its surrounding 35 acres a National Park. This legislation now provides protection and increased funding to the park.
The Falls is a natural "diamond in the rough" and the foundation of America’s economic development. A master plan or design vision has been developed for the recovery of the Great Falls, the surrounding area, and historical industrial sites, to create and orderly plan to integrate them into one spectacular new public space. This new integrated public park is intended to commemorate the Great Falls and its place in the history of the American Revolution while preserving the viewing and natural beauty of the Great Falls.
Best Place to View The Falls
The falls can best be viewed from three spots; Hamilton Park on the south, from the bridge down river from the falls, and Overlook Park on the north.
Great Falls Historic District Visitor Center
Located across from the Falls, The Great Falls Historic District Cultural Center is a great place to learn about the history and many of the initiatives underway to develop the area.

These are a shadow of the things that were to come
Acts 5:15
at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.
Hebrews 10:1
The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming
The Shadow in the Quran:
Two Historical Shadows
The Quran mentions two important Historical Shadows; one of them is the Shadow for Moses and the Israelites and the other is the Shadow for The people of the Prophet "Shu'aib" and their grievous day of punishment.
These two events are not found in the Bible.
The Shadow for Moses and the Israelites
Israelites
Surah 28:24
So he (Moses) watered (their flock) for them. then he turned aside into the shade, and said: my lord! i am needy of whatever good thou sendest down for me.
Surah 7:160
We divided them into twelve tribes, nations; and we inspired Moses, when his people asked him for water, saying: smite with thy staff the rock! and there gushed forth therefrom twelve springs, so that each tribe knew their drinking-place. and we caused the white cloud to overshadow them and sent down for them the manna and the quails (saying): eat of the good things wherewith we have provided you. they wronged us not, but they were wont to wrong themselves.
Surah 7:171
and when we shook the mountain over them as if it were a covering overhead, and they thought that it was going to fall down upon them: take hold of what we have given you with firmness, and be mindful of what is in it, so that you may guard (against evil)
Surah 2:57
And We gave you the shade of clouds and sent down to you Manna and quails, saying: "Eat of the good things We have provided for you:" (but they rebelled); to Us they did no harm, but they harmed their own selves.
The Shadow furnished for people of the Prophet "Shu'aib" who denied him and their grievous day of punishment. The Prophet "Shu'aib" is never mentioned in the Bible. Is that because He was Arabic?
Surah 26:189
But they rejected and denied him (Shu'aib) and called him a liar (Shu'aib) then the punishment of the day of overshadowing gloom seized them, surely it was the punishment of a grievous day
Some facts about the Shadow:
Allah extends the shade; if He pleases He would certainly have made it stationary and then have made the sun an indication of it. Scientifically speaking, the shade will be stationary when the Earth stops its circular movement about itself. In such case, half of the Earth will be day and the other will be night.
So, the sun is the indicator for such event. Who could do that? It is Allah the Creator of the Sun.
Surah 25:45
Have you not considered (the work of) your lord, how he extends the shade? And if he had pleased he would certainly have made it stationary; then we have made the sun an indication of it
All things that Allah has created have their shadows and prostrate unto Him.
Surah 16:48
Have they not observed all things that Allah hath created, how their shadows incline to the right and to the left, making prostration unto Allah, and they are lowly?
Surah 16:81
it is Allah who made out of the things he created, some things to give you shade; of the hills he made some for your shelter; he made you garments to protect you from heat, and coats of mail to protect you from your (mutual) violence. thus does he complete his favors on you, that ye may bow to his will (in Islam).
Surah 35:21
19 and the blind and the seeing are not alike
20 nor the darkness and the light,
21 nor is the shadow equal with the sun's full heat;
The Shadow at the Day of Judgment
At that horrible day, everything is already judged in justice.
Man is one of two, believer or unbeliever; each one has his own Shadow.
The Coming of Allah:
Surah 2:210
Wait they for naught else than that Allah should come unto them in the shadows of the clouds with the angels? Then the case would be already judged. All cases go back to Allah (for judgment).
The Shadow for those who believe; this meaning is not mentioned in the Bible.
Surah 4:57
And as for those who believe and do good works, we shall make them enter gardens underneath which rivers flow - to dwell therein for ever; there for them are pure companions - and we shall make them enter plenteous shadow.
Surah 36:56
They and their associates will be in a pleasant shadow, reclining on thrones (of dignity);
Surah 76:14
And the shades of the (garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility (being easy to reach).
Surah 56:30
In shade long-extended,
Surah 77:41
as to the righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).
The Shadow for those who do not believe; this implication is not cited in the Bible
Surah 56:43
And the shade of black smoke
Surah 77: 28-31
28 ah woe, that day, to the rejecters of truth!
29 (it will be said
"Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false!
30 "depart ye to a shadow (of smoke ascending) in three branches,
31 "(which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce blaze.
32 indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as palaces,
Surah 56:43
And the shade of black smoke
The following verse summarizes the Shadow for the believers and the unbelievers.
Surah 13:35
a likeness of the garden which the righteous are promised; there now beneath it rivers, its food and shades are perpetual; this is the requital of those who guarded (against evil), and the requital of the unbelievers is the fire
Back to the main issue of my series of articles (1-38); this is my question to you smart readers: "Is the Quran quoted from the Bible "?

Three Great Performers
If you were asked to name the three most influential guitarists of the past 40 years I wonder what names you would come up with?
Perhaps you would think of Frank Zappa, or Chuck Berry, or perhaps Woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger, or maybe it would be Chet Atkins or Barney Kessel.
Well, all great guitarists, and worthy of recognition, but they would not quite come into my top three choices.
So who would I vote for? These three, but not necessarily in any particular order - Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix and Jeff Beck.
Eric and Jeff I am glad to say are still performing, but sadly Jimmy died in 1970.
Right then, let me say a bit about these three guitar hero's.
First of all, Eric Clapton. Eric was born in 1945, and in 1963 he joined the R&B group, The Yardbirds, but within 2 short years he had left the group as he felt that they were becoming an out and out pop group, and he was right.
He then had a brief spell with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before coming back to the UK to form the supergroup known as Cream, along with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker.
In 1968 Cream broke up, much to the sorrow of so many people, and Eric formed Blind Faith along with his former partner in Cream, Ginger Baker, and Steve Winwood.
Following the demise of Blind Faith Eric went on to form his own band, Derek and the Dominos and it was while he was in this band that he wrote what is, in my opinion, his greatest song - "Layla".
Sadly, drink and drugs began to take their toll of Eric, and he felt that he had to pull out of the music business, at least for a while.
Happily Eric is now back in full swing, and we his fans are all expectantly awaiting the next great thing from him.
Well next up comes Jimi Hendrix, born 1942, and died 1970. A brief life of just 28 years, but what a name he made for himself.
He is considered by many people to be the greatest rock guitarist of all time, and I would not argue with that.
For a part of his career he was a sideman for such famous name as Ike & Tina Turner, the Isley Brothers, and Little Richard, but not surprisingly somebody with his talent and stage presence did not stay in the background for long.
Hendrix moved to New York and played in various bars and clubs, and it was whilst he was playing in Greenwich Village one night that he was approached by a member of the British rock group, the Animals.
He persuaded Jimi to pack his bags and head for London in 1966.
He was a most amazing guitarist, and an incredible showman, and he became an almost instant success.
His first debut single was "Hey Joe", still a great record today, and his debut album in 1967 was "Are you experienced".
His playing on stage was something which you had to see, to believe. He would play the guitar behind his back, and sometimes he would pluck the strings with his teeth. He oftentimes would smash his guitar against his amplifiers in order to get a certain effect, and sometimes even set light to them.
If you saw him on stage you would never forget the experience.
When he died in 1970 of a drug overdose the world lost a truly unique musician.
This brings me on finally to my last choice, and that is Jeff Beck, a musician not as well known as Eric and Jimi, but a musician of immense talent.
Jeff was born in 1944 in Wallington, England, and he has spent most of his time performing with various bands. He spent some time with the colourful characted Screaming Lord Sutch until in 1965 he joined the Yardbirds to replace Eric Clapton.
He stayed with the yardbirds until late 1966 when he went on to form his own band the Jeff Beck Group.
He spent some time working with Rod Stewart until Rod left to join the Small Faces.
He has played with many people including Mick Jagger on his 1987 album Primitive Cool.
In 1989 Jeff won a grammy for best rock instrumental for his album Guitar Shop.
Jeff is thankfully still performing today, and I heard him not too long ago giving a thrilling live performance and proving himself to be a musician of tremendous ability..
This has been the first of a series of articles on great performers. If you would like to be kept updated as new articles come out then please go to my website and email me, asking to be kept updated.
