we are going to canada in october 2008. stayin with family for a week in toronto. but we would also like to see a bit more of canada and go to new york. can anyone recommend anywhere? and also what is the best way to get to new york from canada? and how much does it cost?

From Buffalo to Toronto only takes me a little over an hour, and if you really want to explore the city, I'd make sure to have a car. Driving from Orange County, NY to Toronto takes me about 6 hours including time at Customs. Once there, Id visit the CN tower (on the main observation deck, there is a section of glass bottomed floor!scary!), on Danforth there are lots of great Greek restaurants (Ouzerie is outstanding! 500 Danforth St. - park next to the church, and walk down) and bakeries (tasty pastries at the one next to the church!), and a trip wouldnt be complete without a little shopping on Queen St.! Have fun!

walt disney concert hall and camera policy?

I'm going to a concert at the WDCH. I wanted to take pictures with my family, but I was wondering if it's okay to have a camera on me when I enter the hall. I won't take pictures during the concert, but I wanted to have a camera on me for intermission and things like that.. Does anyone know if it's allowed to carry a camera into the hall?

If you email or phone WDCH and speak to the right person you may be able to get a written permit. Talk to them before you go - it is ultimately up to the security people on the day, and in the current 'War on Terror' climate they do err on the side of caution.

By the way ( this isn't aimed at you particularly, but at anyone who takes cameras into auditoria ), as a performer and lighting designer can I ask you to be sure you know how to switch off the flash on your camera - it won't help your photograph at that distance and is very nastily distracting for performers - and you really can't afford to be distracted if you're doing one of the sword fights in the current West End "Zorro".
